Developmental research shows children maintain focus best when they are given the opportunity to move around every 20-30 minutes. We are fortunate to have two formal recesses scheduled into our day, and the choice to give the children a third. With PE also scheduled 2x every week of our four day schedule, out children are getting lots of exercise. Ms. Caban and I have noticed that some children need more movement throughout the day, so our class has started using Shake Breaks to get moving and get our brains stimulated at transition time. We are using a website called Go Noodle! Which incorporates academic learning into fun songs and body movements. Check out our video and see what I mean!
